The Escapades of My Mind On Literature

The Number Three

Oedipus killed his father at a three way crossroad. The goddess of the crossroads, Hecate, had three heads. Each head looked a certain direction in time: past, present, and future. This play focuses on how these three elements coexist and meld together into Oedipus's fate. There is a sort of threesome between Oedipus, his mother/wife, and his father. it forms a triangle with the birth of Oedipus, his marriage to Iocaste, and his murder of Laius.
